Why does The Ascent exist?
Some climbs aren't measured in miles.
Living with autoimmune disease can change what a difficult day looks like—and what an accomplishment looks like.
For some, the climb is physical. For others, it's navigating uncertainty, adjusting plans, managing limited energy, or simply finding the strength to keep moving forward.
And beside every person making that climb are family members, caregivers, friends, and advocates who keep showing up.
That's why we gather.
The Ascent brings us together for one joyful day to run, walk, roll, laugh, connect, and remind one another that no one has to make the climb alone.
Every step matters.

What does “The Ascent” mean?

YOUR PACE.
Run it. Walk it. Roll it. Choose the finish line that works for you.
The point isn't how fast you get there. The point is that you showed up.
YOUR PEOPLE.
Bring the people who walk beside you.
Friends, families, caregivers, coworkers, and teams all have a place at The Ascent.
YOUR FINISH LINE.
There is more than one way to reach a finish line.
Celebrate the distance you traveled, the people you traveled it with, and the reason you started.
OUR ASCENT.
